Product
Is a product required for a waterproofing or decorative purpose?
Coprox is famous for good looking waterproofing. Coprox Masonry Waterproofing and Coprox Waterproof Dualcoat can be used for both waterproofing or decorative applications.

Is a product required for a positive or a negative waterproofing solution?
If waterproofing is required outside to protect against rain, then protection is required on the positive side. Coprox Masonry Waterproofing or Coprox Waterproof Dualcoat is ideal.

Coprox Masonry Waterproofing is unique; if waterproofing is required to cure rising damp or ingress of moisture it can be applied to the negative side in situations where it is impossible to get to the source of the problem such as basements, wine cellars, retaining walls etc.

Is a product required for primary waterproofing?
Coprox Masonry Waterproofing when applied to raw porous masonry surfaces will prevent dampness and the ingress of moisture. It also serves as an excellent plaster primer for paint.
Coprox Waterproof Cement Additive is an ideal primary waterproofing solution when mixed with mortar, screed or plaster. It is also extremely effective for plugging leaks.

Is a flexible waterproofing solution required?
Coprox Flexible Waterproofing when mixed with Coprox Masonry Waterproofing is ideal for use where moderate expansion and contraction occurs.

Is a product required for a painted surface?
Coprox Waterproof Dualcoat can be applied directly over most painted surfaces without the need of a keying agent.

Application
Detailed application instructions found on packaging or in this brochure must be adhered to.

Substrate
Substrates must be sound and built in accordance with good building practices. An unsound substrate will affect both the aesthetics and efficacy of any application. Coprox products can not compensate or provide a solution for bad building practices.

Expectations
Is an aged, mottled and rustic finish desired?
Coprox products are cementitious and therefore aesthetically different to paint. Coprox Masonry Waterproofing and Coprox Waterproof Dualcoat when used as a decorative finish, achieve a naturally aged, mottled and rustic appearance which becomes more pronounced over time.

Coprox Masonry Waterproofing retains the characteristics of the substrate to which it is applied.

Coprox Waterproof Dualcoat provides a textured finish when applied as a brush-on application. A towel-on application provides a smooth finish.

Do not use the colour palette for final colour decisions

The colour palette is a guide only and should not be used to make final colour decisions. Ink on paper will never be an accurate representation of the natural colour of a Coprox product applied to brick, plaster, painted surfaces, dry wall partitioning etc.

A brush-out is always recommended
To finalise your colour choice, a brush-out is recommended. Ideally, a test panel should be done on the substrate to be coated. A brush-out on raw brick will be aesthetically different to a brush-out on plaster. Remove the test panel with a steel wire brush before proceeding with the final application.

Mini packs are available
For an economical brush-out, Coprox Masonry Waterproofing and Coprox Waterproof Dualcoat colours are available in 1kg packs.

Do not mix colours
Always use the same colour for the fist and second coat. Do not mix colours.
The second coat may appear lighter then the first coat. Do not underestimate the effect of light. The same colour may appear different on a south facing wall than on a north facing wall. Different substrates will also affect appearance.

Coprox colours provide a natural finish
Coprox colours achieve a naturally aged, mottled and rustic appearance which becomes more pronounced over time. The finish is aesthetically different to paint.
Colour is determined by the natural products we use. Pigments, sand, cement and other constituents which are mined from the earth vary within colour envelopes. Any colour variances which may occur, serve to enhance the naturally aged effect. Colours are consistent but never exact.

Apply once all building or renovation work has been fully completed
Cementitious applications cannot be easily touched up without leaving noticeable patch marks. It is therefore, essential that the application be done once all cutting, chasing and building or renovation work has been fully completed. However, if cutting and chasing is required at a later stage, the entire wall will need to be recoated.
