| Coprox
Masonry Waterproofing is a highly acclaimed cure to dampness, moisture
and water seepage. When applied to raw porous masonry
structures, Coprox Masonry Waterproofing becomes an inseparable
part of the structure effectively impeding the progress of moisture
in or out of the protected surface.
Coprox
Masonry Waterproofing is a cementitious product. It has an extremely
dense structure which will not allow the passage of water molecules.
It will however, allow the passage of air enabling the structure
to breathe and dry completely.
Coprox
Masonry Waterproofing is unique; it can be applied to the negative
side in situations where it is impossible to get to the source of
the problem such as basements, wine cellars, retaining walls etc.
Coprox Masonry Waterproofing can be applied directly onto damp -
it is not necessary to wait until the affected area is dry before
treatment commences.
Coprox
Masonry Waterproofing is available in a wide range of attractive
colours. It achieves a unique naturally aged, mottled and rustic
appearance which becomes more pronounced over time.
When used as a decorative application, the same colour must be used
for both the first and second coat. As
with all cementitious products, Coprox Masonry Waterproofing cannot
be easily touched up without leaving noticeable patch marks. The
application should therefore only be undertaken once all building
or renovation work has been fully completed.

| WEATHER
CONDITIONS |
| Do
not apply on exterior surfaces if rain is imminent, during freezing
temperatures or high winds. Where possible apply under shady conditions. |
 |
| SUITABLE
SURFACES |
| a) |
Raw,
cured, settled and dry porous mortar, screed, concrete,
cement plaster or cement washes of recognised building mix standards. |
| b) |
Good
quality cement, clay or unglazed semi-face bricks. |
| Smooth,
non-porous masonry surfaces, gypsum and swimming
pool plasters are not suitable surfaces. |
 |
| SURFACE
PREPARATION |
| a) |
Remove
surface efflorescence whilst dry using a stiff bristle scrubbing brush. |
| b) |
Thoroughly
clean the surface - remove dust, dirt and any other foreign matter. |
 |
| MIXING
|
| a) |
Sprinkle
5 kg Coprox Masonry Waterproofing slowly into 5 litres of clean water
stirring constantly with a wooden paddle or a mechanical mixing device,
until smooth and free of lumps. |
| b) |
Let
the solution stand for 10 - 15 minutes. |
| c) |
Use
within 1 hour. |
 |
| FIRST
& SECOND COAT |
| Where
Coprox Masonry Waterproofing is to serve as a decorative finish, the
entire wall should be completed without interruption to avoid noticeable
overlaps and patch marks. Unlike conventional paint, cutting around
light fittings, cornices etc., must be done during application as
and when they are encountered. On high walls it is recommended that
one applicator applies from the top down while another applies from
the bottom up, continually working to a wet edge. |
 |
| FIRST
COAT |
| a) |
Thoroughly
wet a workable section of the surface with clean water preferably
using a hose pipe. |
| b) |
Stir
the solution well and apply to the wet section using a fibre or whitewash
brush. |
| c) |
To prevent
settling, stir the solution frequently throughout the application. |
| d) |
As soon
as the Coprox Masonry Waterproofing visibly begins to dry, cure the
application by evenly wetting it with a fine mist spray. Repeat this
procedure at least two or three times. In hot climates or where direct
sunshine cannot be avoided, cure the application frequently. |
 |
| SECOND
COAT |
| a) |
Allow
6 - 8 hours after curing before proceeding with the second coat. |
| b) |
Repeat
steps (a)-(d) above. |
 |
| POWDERING |
| The
structure will only absorb sufficient Coprox Masonry Waterproofing
as is necessary to render it waterproof. Powdering after application
may therefore occur. Simply dust or wash off the excess. Before applying
paint, epoxy coatings, tiles etc., the surface must also be completely
dry. |
 |
| PONDS,
POOLS & RESERVOIRS |
| Thoroughly
wash down the structure with clean water 24 hours or more after
the second coat has been completed. Mop-up and commence filling.
Once
cured, Coprox Masonry Waterproofing is non-toxic and therefore not
harmful to human, animal or plant life. The water must however,
be allowed to age sufficiently or be treated chemically before use
or before introducing fish or plants. Consult your local pet shop,
swimming pool shop or water authority in this regard.
In
the case of swimming pools, chemicals should be added via the weir.
pH levels should be properly maintained. |
