(Must
be mixed with Coprox Masonry Waterproofing)
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION |
| Coprox
Flexible Waterproofing is a UV resistant co-polymer latex. It MUST
be mixed with Coprox Masonry Waterproofing to become a flexible waterproofing
solution. It has excellent adhesion qualities on dense or smooth surfaces,
a flexural strength of 4,7 MPa and elongation of 120%. Coprox
Flexible Waterproofing is ideal for use where moderate expansion
and contraction occurs. Ponds, pools, reservoirs and the waterproofing
of abutments of slabs and walls are good examples of its many applications.
Used
alone, Coprox Flexible Waterproofing liquid is an excellent general
purpose bonding and keying agent. |

| SUITABLE
SURFACES |
| Raw,
cured, settled and dry mortar, screed, concrete, cement plaster of
recognised building mix standards and swimming pool plasters. Other
surfaces should first be tested for suitability. |
| Rubberised
paint, epoxy, bitumen and gypsum based coatings are NOT
suitable surfaces. |
| Coprox
Flexible Waterproofing is not suitable for underground structures
such as basements and cellars and structures affected by negative
moisture. |
 |
| WEATHER
CONDITIONS
|
Do
not apply on exterior surfaces during freezing temperatures, high
winds or if rain is imminent.
Do
not apply in direct sunshine or extremely hot conditions. Where
this is not possible, shade the areas to be treated. |
 |
| SURFACE
PREPARATION |
| a) |
Repair
any leaks with Coprox Waterproof Cement Additive. |
| b) |
Repair
minor plaster imperfections with Coprox Waterproof Crack Filler. |
| c) |
Remove
surface efflorescence whilst dry using a stiff bristle scrubbing brush. |
d)
|
Remove
algae and oil with a scrubbing brush using the following solution: |
| |
•
Entire surface - 1 part hydrochloric acid : 20 parts water. |
| |
•
Water line and steps - 1 part hydrochloric acid : 10 parts water. |
| e) |
Neutralise
the acid washed surfaces with copious amounts of water. |
| f) |
Thoroughly
clean the surface - remove dust, dirt and any other foreign matter.
|
|
| MIXING |
| a) |
Protective
goggles and gloves should be worn. If there is inadequate ventilation
a face mask should also be worn. |
| b) |
Pour
the Coprox Flexible Waterproofing liquid into a large clean plastic
container and stir thoroughly. |
| c) |
Sprinkle
5 kg of the desired colour Coprox Masonry Waterproofing (White Coprox
Masonry Waterproofing is NOT recommended for ponds
or pools) slowly into the 5 litres of Coprox Flexible Waterproofing
stirring constantly with a mechanical mixing device, until smooth
and free of lumps. Where a mechanical device is not available, mix
in smaller quantities, i.e. 1 kg Coprox Masonry Waterproofing : 1
litre Coprox Flexible Waterproofing using a wooden paddle instead. |
| d) |
Use
immediately. |
 |
| FIRST
COAT |
| a) |
Dampen
masonry or swimming pool plaster surfaces with clean water using a
fine mist spray. Other surfaces should be completely dry. |
| b) |
While
the surface is still damp, apply the solution to the surface using
a suitable brush. Brush strokes should be applied in one direction
to a thickness not exceeding 1,5 mm. |
| c) |
Stir
the solution frequently throughout the application. |
| d) |
When
bridging joints or abutments of slabs and walls the application should
cover the joint by at least 75mm on either side. |
| e) |
Thoroughly
cover depressions, fine cracks and pin holes. |
 |
| SECOND
COAT |
| a) |
Do NOT
dampen the first coat. It is essential that the second coat be applied
under dry conditions to ensure no moisture is trapped between coats.
The second coat should ideally be applied as soon as the first coat
is touch dry - approximately 30 minutes. |
| b) |
Apply
the solution at right angles to the first coat to a thickness not
exceeding 1,5 mm. |
| c) |
Keep
the application protected from rain and allow to dry for at least
48 hours. If paint, epoxy coatings or tiles are to be applied, thoroughly
hose or wash down the application with clean water 48 hours or more
after completion and allow to dry before proceeding. |
 |
| FILLING
PONDS, POOLS & RESERVOIRS |
| a) |
Thoroughly
hose or wash down the surfaces using a generous amount of water in
order to reduce foaming. |
| b) |
Mop-up
and commence filling with water. |
Once
cured the solution is non-toxic and therefore not harmful to human,
animal or plant life. The water should however, be allowed to age
sufficiently or be treated chemically before use or before introducing
fish or plants. Consult your local pet shop, swimming pool shop
or water authority in this regard.
In
the case of swimming pools, chemicals should be added via the weir.
pH levels should be properly maintained. |
